Hi all – chief nerd Brandon Wilson here. I’ve been working with this website for about a week now and believe it’s just about ready to release into the wild. Working with WordPress as a Content Management System has been an absolute dream, and I would like to thank Chris Lema for opening my eyes to this robust system and for his help getting us up and running.
I want to publically thank our wonderful Lead Pastor, Steve With, who has been doing an absolutely FABULOUS job creating and maintaining the Impact 1.0 website. His hard work made building the foundation for this 2.0 site a real piece of cake. So why did we go through the trouble of building a new site, when the current one was already working? Our first goal was to create something that multiple people could access and support, so the burden of site administration didn’t fall only on one person. WordPress is great for this, which will also opens up the ability for ministry leaders to create their own content and keep our attendees current on what is going on.
The second reason to create a new site is to set the stage for some changes we have coming up, which will allow us to do some pretty cool things for our church family. We are looking to be able to let people search and join small group studies, submit prayer requests, update their contact information, make an offering or pay fees, and more – all through the website. WordPress has pre-built widgets for many of the functions we hope to add, which will make things a LOT easier (and cleaner) for our web team.
Thanks for stopping by and checking us out – I hope you like what you see, and will come back often!
